Welcome to the website of the Okefenokee Regional Library System. We are a five county library system serving the communities of Appling, Bacon, Clinch, Pierce and Ware counties in southeast Georgia. The mission of the Okefenokee Regional Library System is to promote lifelong learning and provide access to services and resources that enhance the informational, educational, recreational, and cultural interests of the community.
My role as Library Director is to ensure that our patrons receive the best library services possible from our courteous, resourceful, and helpful staff. We strive to make every encounter a pleasant and rewarding experience. Our website aims to provide all residents of our service area with useful and convenient library information, services, activities, and databases to assist you in your research and recreational needs.
PINES (Public Information Network for Electronic Services) is Georgia’s “borderless library” system that allows PINES card holders free access to books and other materials in 284 library branches and affiliated service locations throughout the state; delivered to your home library branch. Getting a PINES library card is easy and library staff is happy to assist you with setting up a library account! Once you have your PINES card, you can not only check out the library’s books and movies, you can also access the Internet, download an audiobook to take with you on a road trip, access the many GALILEO recreational and educational databases, and many other services offered free of charge.
Additionally, our headquarters library, located in Waycross, GA offers an impressive Makerspace room with virtual reality, a 3-D printer, and audio and video creation tools.
I hope that you will visit your libraries often, both virtually and in person, and I look forward to seeing you there. Should you have any questions or comments, feel free to contact me at 912-287-4982.
